Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) is better known under her real title Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she gained notoriety. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012 after she released her the Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to upload her music via the internet including her independently release single Bound. The track Sweat it is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21, 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs in the direction of his Dreamville Team later in the year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. On December 28, 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had been hired to Dreamville Records. On the album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. On October 21, 2016 her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was followed by a video in September. On the 9th of November, she released two additional singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two more singles were released by her on November 13, titled Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared along with Cole in her Creed II sound track on November 16. The song was followed by a music video that was released on February 20, 2019 that surpassed three million views on YouTube in one week. In December 2018, she was part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
